First Chapter Review: The Billionaire Banker by Georgia Le Carre

Here's our very first, First Chapter Review of 2014. There should be plenty more to come if I make my way through my TBR Pile.  The Billionaire Banker is an erotica romance title from Georgia Le Carre.

BLURB:  Time is running out for Lana Bloom. She needs money desperately and fast. And all she has left to sell is her beautiful body. When she walks into that exclusive restaurant she does not know that the highest bidder will not be the rich man she has accompanied into the restaurant.

Utterly confident and breathtakingly handsome, Blake Law Barrington is the fourth generation of an illustrious banking family. He has everything he desires, and everything under control. As is the custom in the great, old houses, marriage is a time of consolidation and expansion. He is due to marry Victoria Montgomery, daughter of the Fourth Earl of Hardwicke.

If he had left that restaurant five minutes earlier he would not have seen the girl in the cheap orange dress and the six-inch high plastic platforms walk in.

And his carefully constructed universe would still be intact…

COVER: Dark, elegant and sexy, this black cover with its burgundy-colored contrasts is stunning. Nice fonts, too.

FIRST CHAPTER: Blake Law Barrington is sitting alone at an exclusive restaurant when a beautiful woman in a hideous and cheap orange dress walks in with a well-known man. He thought he was past fantasizing about strangers, but as soon as Blake's eyes meet hers, he knows he has to own her.

KEEP READING: I'm not a fan of the third person present tense point of view, but this story is intriguing. In less than 1,000 words Le Carre provides setting details, introduces the female and male lead, possibly a protagonist, and gives the reader insight into all three. Hard to do. Based upon the content it doesn't really seem like my kind of book, but I have to admit I want to keep going. My sticking with it to the end all depends on how dark and evil it gets.

I received the first chapter of this book from the author through Pump Up Your Book. This review contains my honest opinions, which I have not been compensated for in any way.

Georgia Le Carre lives in England, in an old 19th century romantic cottage surrounded by a magical garden filled with fruit and walnut trees. When she is not feeding words into her laptop, she is either curled up in bed with a box of chocolates and a good read, or lost in a long walk in the woods. Especially on moonlit nights. And often with the man of her dreams.
